Welcome to the City of Harrisonburg LAMA permit management system web portal!
If you are a contractor or developer, contact the Department of Community Development via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 540-432-7700 to request a Registration Code. This Registration Code will ensure that any records, credentials, documents and permits that you have with the City of Harrisonburg are automatically associated with your account. Failure to use the Registration Code will result in staff having to merge the records manually. This may take up to five (5) business days, depending on the current workload.
To create a profile, click Register on the upper right-hand side of your screen. Complete all the information on the form. Keep in mind that, if you are registering on behalf of a business or organization, you will have to share your account information.
Apply for a Permit
Select Apply. You many narrow your search by selecting one of the categories (such as Building Permits, Accessory Permits, etc.) across the top of the page OR you may use the keyword filter.
Complete the permit information. Click Continue to proceed to the next page. At the bottom of the final page, you will have the opportunity to upload documents, if applicable. To submit, review your information and click Submit.
The LAMA address field limits results to specific address formats. For example, 409 S Main Street will be recognized, but 409 South Main will not. It is recommended that users enter as little information as possible, such as only the street number, then choose from the resulting dropdown menu.
For more information on permit types and requirements, visit the Permit Directory.
Note: If you are a contractor and unable to complete the permit form, check your contractor status. Contact Community Development for assistance.
Manage Your Permit
You will be able to pay permit fees, check permit status, and schedule inspections using the LAMA portal. Select Your Items from the LAMA homepage to find your permits.
Anyone may search permits by permit number or address. If you are a registered user, you may search using Advanced Search. Advanced Search will allow you to search permits by various attributes including date range, project value, permit type, permit status, etc.
Please note that searching by address may limit results to specific address formats. For example, 409 S Main Street may yield different results from 409 South Main St.
If you have any questions, or would like assistance using the LAMA portal, please contact the Department of Community Development at 540-432-7700.
