To avoid complications and questions, we would like all teachers to be aware of the procedures for reserving buses for trips. Please call in advance to request bus transportation and always fax us your trip sheet form at least two weeks in advance, as no trips are entered into our computer system until we receive your fax. Please fax your field trip request in to us as soon as possible after the initial contact.

Emma Rion is the contact person for the scheduling of all vehicles and drivers for Harrisonburg City Schools field trips. Emma can be reached by phone at 540-437-4809 from 7:30am to 4:30pm. When quotes are needed to go on a field trip, please give accurate information regarding your planned activities and return time. If the trip time or destination changes after a quote was given, the price will be adjusted as needed.
Trips are confirmed by fax the week before with the school office. Please go over this fax and make sure your trip is scheduled as requested. We also encourage you to call the day before to confirm your trip.
All trips can be scheduled no earlier than 9:00am and have to be back at the school by 1:45pm. Long trips, like Washington D.C. and Richmond, are not performed. School buses do not have rest rooms and can only run 60 miles per hour on the interstate. For these trips, please contact the following travel agencies:

Teachers who are on the school-driving list may drive our vehicles if you have obtained a Commercial Drivers License with an S endorsement. Tapes are available from this department for you to review. You need to have a mechanic show you the proper operating procedures for the buses. We have trainers available to assist you in obtaining your Commercial Drivers License.
